# Why FastApply: The Story Behind Building a Faster Way to Apply

Two years ago I was working at a startup when the founder announced massive layoffs, I found myself among hundreds who suddenly had to start job hunting in the same city.

It was a tough market, I was competing with friends and colleagues for the same positions.

I'd spend hours on job boards saving jobs that seemed like a good fit.

Then, I'd invest another 30 minutes tailoring my CV for each role.

Only to hit 'Apply' and see the banner: "Job no longer accepting applications."

The job was gone. The opportunity closed.

It was frustrating, but it also sparked an idea. I thought, "Why does applying for jobs have to be so time-consuming and complicated?"

## The Inspiration

That's when an idea struck me.

I loved the simplicity and speed of Tinder: swipe right, match, done.

"Could we make applying for jobs that easy?"

So, I built first FastApply for my personal use. I started getting the first interviews after 4 hours or 7 hours of applying.

Suddenly I was spending more time preparing for interviews than on sending Resumes.

After I got the first interviews, I realized other people would find this tool useful.
